Can Meta AI Build a Website, or Does It Only Help With Ads?
In the coverage we reviewed, Meta's campaign connectors let you create, manage and analyse ad campaigns from an AI chat. They are not described as website builders. Building or editing web pages is a separate job for a separate connector, and you should verify what that connector can do in its own documentation.
The direct answer
No source we reviewed describes Meta's ad connectors as building or editing website pages. The reported coverage is about ad accounts: what is running, how it is performing, and changes to campaigns.
That does not mean an AI assistant can never work on a website. It means website work needs a connector built for that job, usually a third-party service that has permission to change your site. Meta's products are changing quickly, so check Meta's own pages for the current position before you decide.
What the Meta campaign connectors are reported to do
Trade press describes an open beta of Meta ads AI connectors, a tool meant to let businesses of all sizes create, manage and analyse campaigns directly through the AI tools they already use. The same report says it removes the need for developer credentials, API integrations or coding.
A marketer discussion thread on Reddit gives a more detailed list. It describes linking a Meta ad account to Claude or ChatGPT, then reading live campaign data, getting explanations of activity, creating or changing ads and ad sets, diagnosing Pixel, CAPI and conversion signals, managing product catalogs and searching Meta's Business help center. That is a user post, not Meta documentation, so treat the detail as a pointer and confirm it with Meta.
Meta's own assistant pages describe a related set of links. You can link your Instagram professional account, Meta Ads Manager and Google Workspace so Meta AI can analyse your content and ad performance and build presentations.
None of these descriptions mention editing the pages of your website.
Why people assume they cover websites
The assumption is understandable, for a few reasons:
- The word "connector" is broad. Meta describes Meta AI Connectors as a way for a service to connect into Meta AI so people can use it without leaving the conversation. That is a developer-preview route for services to plug in. It does not say what any given service does.
- Meta's agents read websites. Meta Business Agent learns from your website, product catalog and Instagram posts to answer customer questions. Reading your site to answer customers is different from changing it.
- Muse connects to business tools. Reports on Muse for Small Business describe connections to platforms such as Canva, Shopify, Klaviyo, Slack, Stripe and QuickBooks. A long list of business apps makes it easy to assume a website tool is somewhere in there. Confirm in the app, because the list changes.
- The news is about ads. The Reddit thread and the trade press both frame the launch around campaign management, which is why many buyers file Meta connectors under advertising.

Which task needs which type of connector
The table below sorts common website and marketing tasks by the type of connector to look for and what to verify. It describes connector types, not specific products. It does not claim that any named connector can do any of these tasks.
A useful rule: a connector can only change what it has been given access to. An ad connector has access to an ad account. A website connector needs access to your site or the platform it runs on.
Questions to ask a website-building connector
Treat a vendor's page as evidence of advertised capabilities, not proof of output quality, search performance or how easy it is to leave, as one practical selection guide puts it. Before you connect anything to your site, ask:
- What exactly can it change? Create new pages, edit existing ones, change navigation, or only draft text for you to paste?
- Which website platform or host does it work with? Does it work on your current site or only on a site it creates?
- Does it publish on its own? Is there a draft or approval step you control, and can you undo a change?
- Who owns the result? A freelance web designer's evaluation advice includes whether you can export your content if you leave, control your own domain name and reach your site's files.
- What still needs a person? Guides on AI site builders note that titles, descriptions, headings, URLs, images and copy still need a human check.
- Which assistants does it work with, and what is its status? Some connection routes are in preview or beta, so ask what is live today.
- What does it cost beyond the connector itself? Ask about plans, usage limits and renewal terms.

Where Dance's AI Website Builder connector fits
Disclosure: This site is published by Dance Technologies, which also makes the AI Website Builder connector discussed here. We are not independent of it, this site is not a Meta product, and we have not tested or ranked connectors from other providers. Featuring our own connector is a business choice, not the result of a neutral evaluation.
It fits this page because it is a connector aimed at building websites, which is the job the Meta campaign connectors are not reported to cover. We are not reproducing a feature list here, so check the connector page itself for what it can do, which assistants it works with and how changes are reviewed. Then run it through the questions above.
If your main need is marketing and search work rather than building pages, Dance also makes a Digital Marketing + SEO connector. The comparison page sets out which of Dance's two connectors fits which job.
Next step
If you want to build or edit pages with an assistant, look at the connector page and check its documented capabilities against the questions above. If you are still deciding between connector types, start with the buyer's checklist.
| Option | Connector type to look for | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Build a new page | A website-building connector, usually a third-party service with access to your site or its platform. | Whether it creates pages on your actual site, whether you review before publishing, and whether you can export the content. |
| Edit an existing page | A website-editing connector tied to your site builder, CMS or host. | Which platform it supports, whether edits are saved as drafts, and whether changes can be undone. |
| Run ad campaigns | An ad campaign connector. Meta's ads AI connectors are reported to cover creating, managing and analysing campaigns. | Which actions are read-only and which can change spend or ads, and what approval steps apply. Confirm with Meta's documentation. |
| Read analytics | An analytics or reporting connector. Meta's are reported to give live ad performance data. | Which data source it reads. Ad-account data is not the same as website analytics. |
| Fix SEO | An SEO-focused connector, or a website connector with SEO features, plus a human review. | Whether it changes titles, descriptions and headings or only suggests them, and who checks the result. |
This is a task-based sort, not a ranking or a test. It does not claim that any specific connector performs these tasks, and it does not cover every connector type. Capabilities vary by product, plan and platform, so check each provider's own documentation.
Questions
Does a campaign connector edit my website?
Nothing in the coverage we reviewed says so. Meta's ad connectors are reported to work on ad accounts: campaign data, ads and ad sets, tracking-signal diagnostics and catalogs. Diagnosing a conversion signal is not the same as editing a page. Confirm with Meta's own documentation.
Can I ask an assistant to add a page to my site?
Only if the assistant is connected to a service that has permission to change your site. Without one, an assistant can usually draft the text for you to add yourself. Ask any website connector which platforms it supports and whether it creates pages directly or only drafts content.
Do I need to be in Meta's preview to use a website connector?
Not necessarily. Meta describes Meta AI Connectors as a developer preview for services that want to connect into Meta AI, so that route is aimed at the builders of connectors. Whether you need anything depends on the connector and the assistant it works with, so check that connector's documentation.
Can a connector publish changes without approval?
It depends on the connector, and none of our sources sets a default. Ask whether changes go live immediately or wait as drafts for your approval, and whether you can undo them. Guides on AI site builders agree that a person still needs to review accuracy, SEO basics and brand fit.
